Miami’s Best Pizza Places

/ / Food, Lifestyle

Now we all love a good delivery, but Miami also has unique offerings of more gourmet options. Options that go beyond the fab four (Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Little Caesar, and Dominos). For those of you following my blog, my wife and I also now have to consider our gluten free options. So, here is my list of Miami’s best pizza places, and when they have gluten free options, I will specify below!

Spris

This used to be a favorite of ours. Delicious, thin, but sturdy crust, excellent ratio of cheese, AND, best part of it all – happy hour. Their unique take on happy hour is tied to the time you order! For example, if you order at 5:00 PM, your pizza is literally $5! 5:15 PM? $5.15. Plus tax, of course. (Limited to cheese or pepperoni). They also have other Italian favorites on that special menu, so check them out for your next craving! Happy hour is during the week only, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and they have several locations around Miami – listed below is the South Miami location. Gluten Free Not Available.

Harry’s Pizzeria

James Beard Award-winning Michael Schwartz’s local pizza chain serves up gourmet-style pies, fresh salads and crave-worthy snacks – best part? GLUTEN FREE! My favorite pizza is short rib pizza – secret? Happy Hour menu has all pizzas at $12, even the short rib. While there is an uncharge to make the crust gluten free, the chefs have been trained to clean the counter and change gloves to avoid as much gluten contamination as possible, upon request.

Spritz

Actually how we were introduced to Spris in the first place, Coral Gables offers Spritz, who’s name isn’t the only similar concept between the two – they both also offer a Beat the Clock Happy Hour! Also only available for the Margherita and Diavola pizzas (cheese and pepperoni), they also do not offer gluten free options, so sadly, we have not been back in a while.

P.Pole Pizza

Another Coral Gables option is P.Pole pizza, where you can create your own pizza in an assembly line process – think Subway, but for pizza. Unlike Subway, however, the price is one fixed price, with endless combinations of expression! Sadly, they do not have a gluten free crust option – guys, get on that!

Fratelli la Bufala

The answer is “yes.” It is most definitely worth the drive to the beach for this pizza. With some of the freshest buffalo mozzarella cheese ever, this authentic Italian restaurant even offers gluten free options! We love Miami – thank you for being so accommodating! And, thank you for doing it so deliciously!

Harry’s Pizzeria

No, it’s not a mistake, you do see it listed here twice. Did you know that the Michael we are talking about is none other than the chef owner of Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink? I digress. Listed twice because while they do offer the same menu, the way which they cook the food is different. For a softer crust, go to the Dadeland location – they cook their pizza with a gas oven. For a slightly crispier crust, go to this Coconut Grove location, where they use a wood burning oven, giving it an even more authentic Italian taste. Don’t forget the happy hour and gluten free!

Ironside Pizza

We honestly stumbled across this restaurant after a craving for pizza and a little bit of research. Featured as one of my local hot spots a while ago, Ironside Pizza was one of our first gluten free pizza discoveries. With other gluten free options on the menu, and a white sauce alternative pizza, it also helps with those who suffer from acid reflux! After eating here the first time, we were pleasantly surprised and inspired that our journey was going to be a delicious one! If you have not tried them yet, make it your weekend getaway!

Casola’s

Any long time Miami native will have come across this establishment. In my opinion, it is some of the BEST pizza, period. The ratio of the sauce to cheese to crust is perfect. The taste of their sauce, spectacular. AND, another little known fact, after most hurricanes, they will open for business! Don’t believe me? Just stop on by and sample some while you wait in line! That’s right, pizza samples! My favorite pizza there is plain and simple, cheese pizza. Unfortunately, we have not been back since moving to gluten free, as they do not offer any gf options. Forever in our memories.
